Barlick was the first base umpire and stood directly behind Brooklyn Dodgers first baseman Jackie Robinson when Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier on April 15, 1947. He worked six no-hitters, along with the first games at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, Houston’s Astrodome and Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium.

Nice post. Gotta say, my knowledge of Barlick is limited considering he umpired before I was born. But I've definitely seen his name around. In fact, I might even have a copy of his 1955 Bowman trading card.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Never seen those 1990 T&M puzzle cards before. Very cool looking.
I don't have a lot to offer about umpires. It did take quite a while to find a card of this Hall of Famer.
