Here are some some recent cards/memorabilia acquisitions of National Baseball Hall of Famers and Syracuse Baseball Wall of Famers to add to my collections. Some of you may recall, my goal is to get at least one legit card of each member of the respective Hall/Wall of Fame. And in the case of Syracuse Baseball, a card of them in a Syracuse uniform (not an easy task). The cards below help me attain, or in some cases exceed, that goal.
I had no luck finding any cards of Syracuse Baseball WoFers Sandy Griffin, Lew Carr, or Jack Fifield, but I wanted to have SOMETHING in my collection of these players and I found the clipping shown below. I think it's pretty cool.
The clipping below is of a Syracuse Stars 1908 team picture featuring Syracuse Baseball WoFers T.C. (Sandy) Griffin, Lew Carr, and Jack Fifield. This is picture was removed from a 1908 Spalding's Official Base Ball Guide publication.
T.C. (Sandy) Griffin, was a native of Fayetteville, NY and Syracuse, NY. Between 1884 and 1893, he played four seasons in the majors, getting a full season's worth of at-bats in only 1890. At one time, he was co-owner of the Syracuse club.
Lew Carr was from Moravia in nearby Cayuga County. In 1901 he played third base alongside HoFer Honus Wagner for a championship Pittsburgh Pirates team. Carr attended and played baseball at Syracuse University, later coaching the school's baseball team from 1910-1942. The Orangemen were 275-268 with Carr at the helm.
Jack Fifield pitched three seasons in the majors, and also was a star for the Syracuse Stars from 1902 to 1907, when he had 133 victories. Most of his major league career was with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he was a teammate of HoFer Ed Delahanty.
George L. "Hooks" Wiltsie pitched a dozen seasons in the majors, mostly for the New York Giants under manager John McGraw in the dead-ball era. He won 139 games, lost 90, had a lifetime ERA 2.47, and he never had an ERA above 3.27.
Syracuse Baseball WoFer Wiltsie was born in nearby Hamilton, NY and lived much of his life in Syracuse. He sold real estate for many years and got involved in politics, serving as a Syracuse alderman in 1932-33 and as deputy assessor from 1934-44.

Those Detroit News cards are pretty cool... but my favorite would be the 1949 Bowman Hank Sauer card as well.
